The Tree of Life / Lehi's Vision

I used colored butcher paper to turn the classroom into Lehi's Vision. Great and Spacious Building to the left (cut out windows and taped white paper with outline of crowd in each window). Midst of Darkness (black tissue paper) to the left. River of Water in the middle. Tree of Life straight ahead. Used a curtain rod for the Rod of Iron on the right. The kids LOVED having the visual and it was fun when they read a scripture and got all excited about which decoration it was talking about.

After the lesson, we played a game, turning it into a life-size board game with the kids as pieces. Notice the tape squares on the ground by the Iron Rod. I had a bag full of different examples of good choices and bad. The kid picked a paper and read it out loud. After the example it said "Go forward one space" or "Go to the Great and Spacious Building" or "Go to the River" or "Go back one space" (depending on whether it was a good choice or bad choice). Once they reached the Tree of Life, they received an apple.

A 3-D box depicting Lehi's Vision. The kids LOVED these! Template for these is on Sunday Savers CD Rom.

Obtaining the Brass Plates

Rice Krispie treats (I used the pre-made ones from the store because they're easier to work with). Melt butterscotch chips and frost treats (will dry hard). Poke three small holes in side of treat and thread Twizzler Pull-n-Peels through top and bottom (chocolate flavor would look better but I couldn't find them). I put treat in ziplock back and taped quote to the outside.
